NECTAR ISLANDwas as beautiful as Tristan remembered. They’d

been there for close to two months already, and he couldn’t believe how time was flying by. They spent most of their days by the pool or on one of the boats cruising the azure waters of the Caribbean. They island hopped regularly, frequenting Foxy’s, Willie T’s, the Soggy Dollar Bar, and the Virgin Gorda baths. In the evenings, they watched magnificent sunsets, ate incredible meals prepared by Amani, then made love most of the night, starting it all over again the next day.

Gage had come for a week as he’d promised, and since Deanna could no longer travel, she called every day or so to update them on her pregnancy. They were extremely happy and had no real plans to leave. They knew that eventually they would get back to Atlanta, but they’d been in serious discussions with Cavan and Sam to buy the inn. The only dilemma was, would they keep it as a business and get someone to run it, or would they convert it to a private residence? They had an architect drawing up plans for converting the Guest House back to a barn and the Carriage House into an actual guesthouse.

TRISTAN and Webber were lying by the pool sipping some tropical concoction Kenton had whipped up when Webber’s cellphone rang. He looked at the caller ID. “It’s Deanna.”

He touched the screen, accepting the call. “Hey, D. How’s little Webber?” “He wants out,” she said with a little panic in her voice. “What?” Webber said excitedly. “Are you in labor?”

“I’m afraid so,” she replied. “It just started, and I’m on the way to the hospital.” Tristan was staring at him with eyes as big as saucers. Webber reached out and touched him on the arm. “We’ll be there as soon as we can,” Webber assured her. “Just stay calm until we get there, then you can have a nervous breakdown. And don’t have that baby without us.”

Deanna chuckled. “I’ll shove a cork up there and strap my knees together. Just please hurry! I hate to admit it, Webber, but I’m a little scared.”

“It’ll be okay, D. Just hang in there. We’re on our way,” Webber said as he disconnected the call.

Tristan was already up and dialing his cell phone. “I’ll make travel arrangements. You start packing.”

“I’m on it,” Webber replied, hopping out of his chair and heading for the house. An hour later, Tristan and Webber were waving goodbye to Kenton and Amani from the helicopter as they took off for St. Thomas to board their private jet to Los Angeles.

Their sedan pulled up in front of Cedars-Sinai Hospital, and almost before it came to a complete stop, Tristan and Webber were out and heading for the front door, their duffle bags slung over their shoulders. They had talked to Deanna a few times once they’d landed and knew she had a birthing suite in the Labor and Delivery Unit on the third floor. They rode the elevator up and stopped at the nurse’s station to get further directions.
